The following excerpts were published in the of The Hyannis Patriot weekly newspaper.

November 17, 1902 Monday evening edition

"One of the most interesting games of foot-ball is expected on the Watts field Thanksgiving at 2 o'clock when the Chatham kickers will line up against the Hyannis boys. This will undoubtedly be the best game of the season as in these two teams are some of the best amateur players in the county. We will give the line-up of both teams in next week's Patriot."

December 1, 1902 Monday evening edition

"The football game on Thanksgiving Day between the Chatham and Hyannis elevens was not a great success, as it was played in a dizzling (sic) rain storm. Notwithstanding the weather there was a large crowd present to witness the game, and considerable enthusiasm was manifested at times. Considering the conditions the game was well-played, and although the Hyannis boys had a walkover, the visitors put up a good game. The score was 26-0."
