Notes: The 1956 season was tragically marred with the accidental death of Coach E.B. MacSwan's 13-year-old son, Kirk MacSwan (Elliott B. MacSwan Jr.) when a car he was traveling in with a friend was struck by a moving train in Hyannis. Barnstable Little League baseball voted to name its annual sportsmanship award, permanently, after the boy. He had just completed his first year playing football on the Barnstable Junior High Team for longtime BHS coach and athletic director, W. Leo Shields.
