Historical Notes: The Red Raiders' come-from-behind victory at host Bridgewater-Raynham on Valentine's Day, 2-14-11, clinched at least a tie for the Old Colony League championship title, the first boys' basketball title at BHS in a decade since the 2001-02 season when BHS went 20-3, falling to Brockton in the first round of the MIAA Div. 1 South Sectionals. Class of 1988's Paul Morrissey was the head coach that season, before he left to become head coach at Reading High School. Morrissey, captain of the 1987-88 team that went 19-4, was coached by Gerry McDowell, who, in his previous last season at the BHS helm, took the Red & White to the SMC Div. 1 championship; On Feb. 17, 2011, Taunton defeated Dartmouth, 82-44, thus giving Dartmouth two league losses and BHS the outright Old Colony League Championship. On Feb. 18, 2011, BHS fell in double-overtime to the host Dartmouth Indians, 62-57, in spite of a gutsy effort by the Red Raiders. BHS finished 5-1 in the league. This season also marks the first time the Red Raiders won at least 10 games since 2002-03. On Feb. 22, 2011, BHS captured the Vincent Mosciavelli Tournament Championship in Quincy, MA after defeating Quincy and Milton High Schools. |
