Head Coach John Cheska almost reached a very special milestone in his third season

with the Red Raiders when his boys won seven straight games before dropping the

season's final two -- including the home game on Thanksgiving Day versus Falmouth, 7-6 -- and

had to settle for a Co-Championship in the Capeway Conference. An All-American at Amherst College in

1961, Cheska taught at his alma mater before taking the head coach's position at

Glen Rock High School in Glen Rock, NJ in 1962 where he coached from 1962 through 1967. In 1965,

Cheska took his Geln Rock team to the Group 3 State Championship (NJ). From 1967 through 1968,

Cheska was an assistant football coach at Williams College and from 1968 through early 1969,

at Columbia University. He then moved onto Barnstable where he stayed until 1972.
