Leading BHS to its first undefeated football season in 44 years in 1951, little could Class of 1952’s Jack Aylmer have known that he would one day become one of five teammates from that storied gridiron campaign to one day be enshrined in the BHS Athletic Hall of Fame.

Pictured at left (first on right) with fellow future Hall of Famers Caleb Fraser and Ray Hostetter, Aylmer was a starter on the 1951-52 Red Raider Class B State Champion Basketball tema, the first Eastern Massachusetts state championship in any sport in school history.

His senior year at BHS, Aylmer bloomed into a stalwart pitcher and catcher for the school’s Cape Cod Championship baseball squad.

After his short collegiate career as a quarterback at Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Aylmer would go onto a long, storied career as a Massachusetts State Senator, President of Massachusetts Maritime Academy and the founding father of the vaunted Hyannis Mets of the Cape Cod Baseball League, a league he played in as a teenager with the old Barnstable Townies. He was inducted into the BHS Hall of Fame in 2009.
