BIO

When the dust finally settled on this esteemed Red Raider’s athletic career, the varsity teams she played for at Barnstable High had totaled an ungodly 135-8 win-loss record, had captured no less than five out of six Division 1 South Sectional Championship titles, six Old Colony League championships and the coup de grace, an undefeated, 25-0, Massachusetts Division 1 Girls Volleyball State Championship title.

On the volleyball court, Enz was a key cog in the Tom Turco-coached, well-oiled machine that has grown to become the apex of all sports in the state of Massachusetts. An Old Colony League All-Star her senior year at BHS, Enz captained the unbeaten, 25-0 squad of 2003 from its season-opening sweep of Dennis-Yarmouth to its grande finale at WPI versus Chelmsford: the team not only did not lose a single game, it did not lose a single match the entire season, sweeping all opponents it faced.

Playing outside hitter, setter, and defensive specialist, Enz posted 100 kills and 194 digs with 62 service aces and 238 service points and during the offseason she did not let up, playing setter for the New England High Performance Team in the U.S.Junior National Championships.

But it was for Coach Hedley Smith on the Red Raider tennis courts where Enz truly left her mark along with her doubles teammate and fellow superstar and BHS Hall of Fame inductee, Whitney Davis. After three varsity seasons, three Old Colony League Championships titles and a pair of MIAA Division 1 South Sectional Championships, Enz’s final individual record was an astounding 69-2. Twice she was recognized by her peers to serve as varsity tennis captain, pacing the Red & White to an unheard of 64-4 team record and twice she was named a Boston Globe All-Scholastic. The three volleyball teams she played for at BHS? An almost unbelievable 135-8. The list, not unbelievably, goes on. She was inducted into the BHS Athletic Hall of Fame, Nov. 29, 2014.
