Billy Rosary was a keystone athlete on every BHS Red Raider team he was a member of in his four-year varsity career at BHS, highlighted by his stellar senior year on the Red Raider parquet when he led the Red & White to an uncanny 25-1 record, Capeway Conference Championship, Class C State Title and one game from a Class A Championship title.

While not the top scorer in boys basketball that season, Rosary was the playmaker that made things happen on the floor for the BHS boys hoop squad that won 25 straight before suffering defeat at the hands of Boston English on the original parquet floor of the “Old” Boston Garden that fated spring of 1971.

Few people know that Rosary was equally adept on the BHS baseball diamond, but many Red Raider fans recollect his exploits on W. Leo Shields Memorial Field for the Red & White gridirong gang.

Rosary captained the 1970 BHS Red Raiders along with Art Pacheco and Barry Weigert, taking a 7-1 record into Thanksgiving Day before succumbing to the dreaded Falmouth Clippers, 7-6 in the game’s waning seconds. While BHS finished 7-2 his senior year on the gridiron, Rosary helped lead the Red & White to its first ever Capeway Conference Championship title (Co-Champs) and in three varsity seasons the team went 15-9-2.

He was inducted into the BHS Athletic Hall of Fame in the hall’s inaugural class in 2000.
