BIO

Her feats, no pun intended, were almost immediately legendary. Shattering the decade-old BHS school girls cross country record as a freshman and winning her first-ever race as a varsity cross country runner, Jessica Johnston immediately set the tone for the next four autumns prior to her graduation in 1998.

At Middlebury College, Johnston became a three-time All-American, captain and was member of two Div. III National Champions. She also earned three Most Valuable Player Awards, but none of this before leading BHS to a 41-4 mark and two OCL titles over four seasons on the Red Raider pathways.

Her sophomore year, Johnston was crowned the state Division 1 individual champion. Three times she was crowned an OCL individual champion and her awards are countless. In the midst of it all, Johnston played a key role in leading BHS to its first-ever OCL championship title in varsity swimming and she garnered two varsity letters in spring track and field. In essence, Johnston put Barnstable girls running on the map. Permanently. She was inducted into the BHS Hall of Fame in 2007.
