BIO
John Roy is still regarded as one of the finest student athletes to graduate from Barnstable High School. A three touchdown performance against Falmouth on Thanksgiving Day, a 25-point per game scoring average in basketball, and hitting for a .380 lifetime average in baseball are some of the things that have earned him his place in the BHS Hall of Fame. Charlie Howes, who coached BHS baseball for 17 years, was asked to compile a list of the best players he coached in each position over his career he named John Roy as the best third baseman. After high school John Roy played base-ball for the Cotuit Kettlers for two years in the Cape Cod League. He also played basketball and baseball for Dartmouth College while receiving an AB degree. John Roy then earned an MBA from Wheaton and entered the business world. Germani Insurance, established in the 1970’s, is currently being operated by his sons.
John Roy now spends 8 months in Florida and 4 months on his beloved Cape Cod. He is an avid golfer and has won the Wianno Club Championship 3 times. He was inducted into the BHS Athletic Hall of Fame, Nov. 26, 2011.
