BIO
When Kristen entered BHS she immediately established new high-scoring standards for the Red Raider gymnastics program. Due to an error in par ticipation rules, however, one of her teammates was ruled ineligible for the season, thus causing BHS to forfeit its season and records set. Still, PierceLaube’s accomplishments merited a review by the MIAA and she was allowed to participate in the SMC Individual Championships, in which she placed 3rd overall and again, in that competition, she set new scoring marks that held for nearly a decade.
Over the ensuing three years, Kristen was 1he league high-scorer (SMC, Old Colony and Pilgrim Conference) and she fared well enough to rank 8th overall in the state individual championships.
In her sophomore year, Kristen was encouraged to join the BHS Varsity Cheerleading squad where she quickly became a tumbling standout and the base for all lifts and pyramids. She went on to train at the Universal Cheerleaders Association Camp at Emmanuel College and was chosen a UCA International All-Star, selected to take part in the New Year’s Day Parade in London, England. She was the first Red Raider thusly selected. Following her stellar gymnastics and cheerleading career at BHS, Kristen went on to Springfield College where she served as captain in 1996 and led the school to the NCAA Division III National Gymnastics Championship.
She has since returned to her hometown, Barnstable, where she owns Gymport Gymnastics in Hyannis with her husband Marcus Laube. She was inducted Into the BHS Athletic Hall of Fame, Nov. 24, 2012.
