For the past 20 years or so, the Scioletti name has been associated with academic and athletic greatness and with Mike Scioletti’s induction into the BHS Athletic Hall of Fame, the family’s name has been placed where it rightly belongs: written in stone as one the Red Raiders’ all-time greatest.

As a precociously gifted golfer, Scioletti paved the way for the Red & White to back-to-back Old Colony League Championships in his junior and senior years and a combined 37-3 record. The feather in his cap came with the individual Old Colony League championship his senior campaign.

It was a senior year to remember as Scioletti earned all-star honors in golf, basketball and baseball but it was in his junior year that Scioletti set the tone for the year to follow.

Perhaps Scioletti will best be remembered for his 29-point, 10-rebound performance in the regular season basketball finale versus Falmouth on February 12, 1993, his junior season, when the lanky, hot-handed forward paced the Raiders to an 84-81 overtime victory versus their archrivals.

Or possibly, he may be remembered as the sure-handed, sweet-swinging shortstop for the Red Raider nine, leading Dean Boger’s and in his first season at the Red & white helm, Pete Auger’s squads (1994). An American Legion standout for Bob Corradi’s Sandwich Post 188, Scioletti went onto West Point where he set record after baseball record there and he remains the sole USMA cadet to ever be drafted in the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Amateur Draft (Chicago White Sox).

But it is equally likely that Scioletti’s poise, demeanor, competitiveness and skill came together as one on the Cape links as he paced the Red & White to championship after championship for the legendary Bob Kingman.

Whichever the athletic or classroom endeavor, this Scioletti made his mark wearing the Red & White and it shall never be forgotten. He was inducted Into the BHS Athletic Hall of Fame, Nov. 27, 2010.
