Pick any sport and the number of Red Raider athletes who have made an offensive impact on their teams’ success is a relatively short, finite list. But for the Class of 1987’s Tim Lus, all three varsity sports in which he excelled — soccer, ice hockey and baseball — making an offensive impact was something he achieved the moment he suited up come game time, from the moment he stepped into the hallways at BHS his freshman year.

In soccer, Lus was not merely a four-time letterman, he was the 2nd leading scorer his junior year and in his senior year net­ ted 25 goals in just 16 games, a record that has never been matched. To put that number of goals into perspective – most entire BHS teams haven’t scored that many goals in an entire season.

In baseball, Lus was no less prolific, batting a solid .300 while playing every game in left field for coach Dean Boger, but it was on the ice that Lus truly shined. In three of his four years on the Red Raider ice, Lus’s teams captured SMC conference titles and in his sophomore, junior and senior campaigns he came close to or led the team in scoring with 20 points his sophomore year, 28 points to lead the team in 1985-86 and 40 points in 1986-87 including a then school record 27 goals.
Leadership by example is, in essence, what Lus embodied during his tenure wearing the Red & White — a rare, three-sport captain, he was an even more rare three-sport impact player who led his teams to glory time and time again
