BIO
Tracy Roderick was to the varsity sport of gymnastics at Barnstable High School in the mid-1980s, what Babe Ruth was to the New York Yankees of the 1920s. She is also the only single-sport student-athlete to ever be inducted into the Barnstable High School Athletic Hall of Fame. Her selection and subsequent induction are merited on a lifetime dedicated to an arduous, taxing sport, one that requires intense focus and an absolute disdain for personal failure.
Failure is not a word one can associate with Roderick’s time and tenure as the school’s top gymnast and one of its top student-athletes from 1983-1986.
A routine Barnstable Patriot Athlete of the Week, Roderick continuously and consistently set personal best marks in the All-Arounds, Floor and Vaulting events from her freshman through senior years at BHS.
In her senior season, Roderick paced the BHS gymnasts to a second-place finish in the SMC League Meet with three first place finishes an a second, but it was her score in the All-Arounds that set the new school record.
She would complete her senior year undefeated in All-Around competition at the varsity level, and it was ultimately her dedication to perfection that would lead her to her collegiate gymnastics career at Northeastern University where she would eventually garner ECAC all-star status.
She was inducted into the Barnstable High School Athletic Hall of Fame on November 24, 2006.
