If one were to say that her career almost identically mirrored that of her Red Raider tennis doubles teammate Brittany Enz, they would not be that far off the mark, with the difference being that Davis’s mark was just a tad more prolific than her counterpart’s.

When her Barnstable High School varsity tennis career had finally come to a close after reigning as the perennial MIAA Division 1 South Sectionals Doubles Champion with her teammate, Davis finished with a 79-2, four-year career mark for Coach Hedley Smith, had twice been a team captain, three time an Old Colony League champion and twice a Division 1 South Sectional title holder.

More to the point of her sheer athleticism, Davis did not receive an offer to play at the University of Arizona simply based on her academic prowess. As Coach Smith once so poignantly stated, Davis was a “consummate” team-oriented athlete whose care was always the success of the Red & White before her own accomplishments.

An all-state fixture on Coach Tom Turco’s steamrolling dynasty on the volleyball court, Davis captained the 2003 team to the apex of all titles: an undefeated, 25-0, Massachusetts Division 1 State Championship. While such a prize may have eluded her on the tennis courts of Southeastern Mass. and beyond, Davis was twice named a Boston Globe All-Scholastic in that sport and once named a Boston Globe All-Scholastic in volleyball – a feat and milestone less than 10 young men and women have ever reached in the storied hallways of Barnstable High.

Truth be told, as selfless an athlete as she had been for the Red Raiders, few can hold a candle to the legacy of individual success she left behind. While old plaques and trophies may be collecting dust in some quiet closet of the past, there can be no mistake that her accomplishments to this day continue to shine in the hearts and minds of all who wear the Red & White, gleaming with the pride of knowing she, without question, belongs forever enshrined in this hallowed Hall. She was inducted into the BHS Athletic Hall of Fame, Nov. 29, 2014.
