The word precocious would not suffice to portray the immediate impact Billy Sullivan had on the Red Raider athletic landscape when he matriculated to the Red Raider hallways in 1975. Incredible and nearly unparalleled would be the best way to describe just how much Sullivan contributed to the Red Raiders’ success on the football field, in the hockey rink and on the baseball diamond from his freshman through senior campaigns.

A three-sport captain, Sullivan was the first Red Raider football player in 60 years to be elected captain as a junior. He did not play his senior year, but the two years Sullivan played for Steve Goveia and Don Dorr, Sullivan made an irrefutable mark on a program that had gone 0-9 his freshman school year.

In ice hockey, Sullivan was unmatched in terms of raw ability and speed on the ice, netting goals in each of his first five varsity games his freshman year. After leading Barnstable to the SMC Div. I league championship his junior year, Sullivan finished his senior year as the first-ever 100-point scorer in BHS history.

He was inducted into the BHS Hall of Fame on November 24th, 2007.
