Barnstable High School Football 1955
Historical Notes: According to a September 1955 edition of The Barnstable Patriot weekly newspaper, a polio scare caused Barnstable school officials to delay the beginning of football practice at Barnstable High School, thus, the first game of the season did not take place until Columbus Day in October, as noted above. Also of note, attending the postseason annual BHS Boosters Club Banquet was Harvard University Varsity tight end Ted Kennedy of Hyannisport, now the late Sen. Edward M. Kennedy. Harvard Freshman Football Coach Bob Margarita was also a guest speaker.
