Historical Notes: On Sunday, Jan. 6, Morgan Kendrew scored 29 pts., to surpass Mike O’Brien (1975) and Dennis Fisher (1988) on the all-time scoring list as her career tally rose to 1,191 pts. Kendrew’s 29 pts. put her at fifth all-time.
On Friday night, Jan. 11, Morgan Kendrew scored 23 points vs. B-R in a 71-48 victory and surpassed BHS Athletic Hall of Famer Christine Frauton (1,236 carrer points/class of 1996) on the BHS all-time scoring list with 1,237 career points.
On Friday, Feb. 1, 2008, Jill Lyon scored 18 points to become the 10th Red Raider all-time to reach the 1,000-point career milestone. Her team’s 59-36 victory over Attleboro at home also clinched a share of the OCL championship title for the Red Raiders.
On Feb. 7, 2008, Morgan Kendrew’s 18 pts. vs. D-Y gave her 1,360 lifetime points, as she surpassed Amy Lyon (Class of 2003/1,354 pts.) to become the third all-time leading scorer, male or female, in Red Raider history. She needed just two points to become the second highest scorer in history and to pass Mickey Fein (Class of 1995/1,361 pts.)
Morgan Kendrew scored 25 pts. on Friday, Feb. 8, 2008 to pass Mickey Fein on the BHS all-time scorers’ list. Kendrew’s 25 pts. gave her 1,385 lifetime points, passing Fein’s 1,361 pts. Fein graduated with the Class of 1995 and is enshrined in the BHS Athletic Hall of Fame.
On Thursday, Feb. 14, Valentine’s Day, Jill Lyon scored 17 points to pass Ken Dorr (Class of 1971/1,056 pts.) on the all-time scorer’s list. Lyon became the ninth-ranked Red Raider on the 1,000-point list with 1,057 pts., tying her with Class of 1996’s Shaun Fein.
On Thursday, March 6, 2008, with 2:53 remaining in the fourth quarter of the 2007-08 MIAA Division 1 South Semifinal between Barnstable and Sandwich at Mashpee High School, Morgan Kendrew hit a layup to score her 1,536th point and in so doing set a new all-time record at BHS for career points scored. Kendrew’s 25 points in her team’s 61-51 loss gave her 1,544 career points and the top slot — male or female — in the annals of BHS lore for, in all likelihood, some time to come. Her point tally broke the mark of 1,534 points set in 1995 by BHS Hall of Famer Tania McIntyre. Kendrew’s 522 pts. for the season was also a new BHS school record for most points by an individual girls basketball player in a single season.
