Red Raiders Drop Tough, Tight Contest With Tigers

October 29, 2004

Fourth Quarter Bid Fails in 13-12 Loss

The Barnstable Red Raiders offered an outstanding effort, but in the end could not convert on a fourth-quarter, two-point rush and fell, 13-12 to the visiting Taunton Tigers.

Taunton now stands at 6-2 while Barnstable stands at 2-5 on the season.

Sophomore Zach Wilson scored first for the Red Raiders, catching a 32-yard pass from junior quarterback Kevin Riley to make it 6-0.

Taunton then held Barnstable scoreless in he second and third quarters while it scored a touchdown and two field goals to go up 13-6.

The fourth quarter seemed to belong to Barnstable when Scott Dowdall recovered a fumble deep in Taunton territory with just about 2:30 left. Bobby Nunes dove into the end zone from two yards out to make it 13-12, but the two-point conversion failed and Barnstable ran out of time to try and win it.

The Red Raiders' schedule from here on out doesn't get any easier. Barnstable faces Bridgewater-Raynham, Marshfield and a thus far undefeated Falmouth team on Turkey Day at home.
